Demo $1,000 to $308,970: reading the report properly
In 16 days (Sep 8 – Sep 23, 2026), Exness demo account 463938034 went from $1,000 to $308,970.58. +30,797% sounds like an ad. This post reads the report the way a risk manager would — and explains why we do not use it as a promise to anyone.
1. The 46.96% drawdown came before the profit
On Sep 10 the balance peaked at $1,473 and then fell to $781 — a loss of $691.87, or 46.96%. At its lowest the account held $642.40, i.e. $357.60 below the initial capital (absolute drawdown).
Imagine this were a real account. Most traders would stop, deposit more, or size up to “win it back” at this point. And recovering from −47% to breakeven requires a +88.5% gain.
Profit tells you how much you made. Drawdown tells you how close you came to losing it.
2. Three phases, three different stories
- Sep 8–14 · 668 scalping trades, median 0.1 lots: $1,000 → $1,682 (+68%). This is the real trading style — but with a 47% drawdown.
- Sep 16 · 15 trades, including 90-lot USOIL positions: $1,682 → $73,796. All winners.
- Sep 23 · 9 trades: XAUUSD 90 lots (+$106,254) plus AMD, INTC, NVDA, AAPL at 10 lots: $73,796 → $308,971.
In other words: the last 24 trades produced 99.8% of the profit. The 6 largest alone account for 83.3%.
3. A profit factor of 51 looks great — now check the win rate
A profit factor of 51.17 (gross profit $314,109 / gross loss $6,139) is usually considered “legendary”. But the win rate is only 48.55%, with an average win of $934.85 against an average loss of $17.24. That average is dragged up by a few huge trades, not by every winner being bigger than every loser.
A Sharpe ratio of 0.11 confirms it: returns are very uneven and depend almost entirely on a few lucky days.
4. Why 90 lots can only exist on demo
For gold, 1 lot = 100 ounces, so 90 lots means every $1 price move = $9,000. On a live account you would face slippage on large fills, spreads widening on news, and broker volume limits. More importantly, a reversal of a few dollars would erase everything.
5. What the report actually proves
- An ability to catch the right direction on strong moves in oil, gold and tech stocks.
- The scalping phase was profitable (+68%) but EURUSD was slightly negative (−$20.38) and USDJPY only broke even (+$100.89 after 192 trades).
- No risk rules yet: size jumped from 0.01 to 90 lots without any formula.
Next step
We will rerun phase 1 on a new $1,000 demo account with a fixed 1% risk per trade, a 10% maximum drawdown, and publish the report weekly. Details in the 4-phase plan and every number on the Results page.
